Artists’ Alley is thrilled to announce its latest exhibit “Resist Erasure: Art by and for 2SLGBTQIA+ Thriving.” This juried show is comprised of works by local high school and college students responding to theme “Resist Erasure.” Facing limiting legislation, book bans, harassment and more, students say they are being “erased” from the U.S. education system. In response, these young artists were asked to create works inspired by the current political climate toward the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.
The exhibit will feature an original print by Kadin Henningsen, Meanwhile Letterpress. Fifty hand-numbered copies of the print will be available for sale at the exhibit opening only.
This interactive exhibit will have two fun activities: Kadin will have his mobile letterpress on site during the opening so attendees can print their own bookmarks with a resistance message. We also invite attendees to respond to the work with an “Add Your Voice” component. Blank postcards with prompts will be available for your responses which will then be added to the exhibit.
Date: Thursday, September 28 from 5 to 7 p.m. Light refreshments will be provided.
