Each year, the church awards the Ullman Scholarship to UIUC students who are residents of Presby Hall and who have demonstrated one or more of the following: involvement in extracurricular activities, civic engagement, academic achievement, and study of music. The Ullman Scholarship is named for the late Rina Ullman of Urbana who was a member of McKinley Church, a choir member, and music lover.
This year’s recipient is Ella Yoder. Ella is an incoming freshman in the College of Media and plans on majoring in Cinema and Media Studies. Although she won’t be studying music, she loves music and plans on auditioning for the Marching Illini and Pep Band. “Music is such an amazing outlet for creativity!” Ella will also be a 2nd generation “Presby Girl” as her mother lived at Presby House in the 1990s. We hope to see a lot of Ella in the coming the year and wish her well.
