On Wednesday, April 26 at 7 p.m., McKinley’s Film Committee and Green Team are proud to highlight Earth Month with a free screening of All That Breathes, a 2022 award winning documentary directed by Shaunak Sen. The film follows two brothers who run a bird hospital dedicated to rescuing injured black kites, a staple in the skies of New Delhi, India. In one of the world’s most populated cities, where cows, rats, monkeys, frogs, and hogs jostle cheek-by-jowl with people, the “Kite Brothers” care for thousands of these mesmerizing creatures that drop daily from New Delhi’s smog-choked skies. More details here.
In addition, we’ll show a brief 6 minute video about mussel grubbing in the Sangamon River that features our own Nancy Westcott! Sarah Douglass from the Prairie Research Institute will be there to discuss this and the citizen scientist program. Please join us if you are able!
