Bring the whole family to learn about Monarch butterflies and how to help them thrive in Illinois. The McKinley Foundation in partnership with the Sierra Club Prairie Group are hosting this fun and informative event on Saturday, March 4 from 1 to 4 p.m. You’ll plant milkweed seeds to raise at home, do kid-friendly crafts and activities, join a story corner, see a butterfly movie, and more. Come to learn about the Route 66 Flyway, the Illinois Monarch Project, and how to map your sightings of bees with BeeSpotter. Plan on the entire afternoon to see and do everything!
Participating organizations include: Anita Purves Nature Center, Faith In Place, Pollinatarium, Prairie Rivers Network, Urbana Free Library Seed Exchange, Urbana Park District, and Vermilion County Soil and Water Conservation District.
