They say that everyone has a story. As we approach the season of Lent, we invite you to join us as we explore the stories we hear in scripture as Jesus encounters various people along the way. We will enter the stories from the perspective of some of the individuals involved, using our imaginations to “hear” how they might tell the story. As we listen in this way, our imaginations help scripture “come alive” as we start to see that these stories are about people who share a lot in common with us.
We begin on Ash Wednesday, February 22, with the call of Andrew and Simon—a call that comes to each of us, too. Then, for the Sundays in Lent, we will follow the Revised Common Lectionary. During Holy Week, we will explore the traditional accounts of the final meal with the disciples (Maundy Thursday, April 6), the Crucifixion (Good Friday, April 7), and the Resurrection (Easter, April 9). You can find past liturgical holiday entries and these new ones at spiritontheprairie.blogspot.com. If you want to be added to our list to receive a welcome and reminder note as new entries are posted, please write to Barbara England at englandba@comcast.net
