Renew. Restore. Rejuvenate.
GOD KNOWS WHAT IT DOES!
“THAT CHURCH ON THE CORNER” is our 2019-2023 Capital Campaign. It is a five-year plan of giving to fund projects that will repair significant structural and accessibility issues in the church as well as enhance the quality of our fellowship and worship experiences.
Since 1911, McKinley Church has been home to a religious community where thoughtful Christians have seen their faith acted out in caring for one another and for the community, both close to home and far away. Today, our presence on 5th and John — our church on the corner — continues to impact the community around us. We offer welcome and prayer for all who seek connection, common ground for action, dialogue, reflection, and song. But time has taken its toll and created significant damage to several aspects of our building. It is our responsibility to protect this special place we have inherited so that we can continue to use it for worship, service, and fellowship…now and for generations to come.
Projects
Flashing and Masonry
The original flashings where the roof meets the parapets will be removed so the masonry behind it can be repaired, providing a solid base for new flashings to be installed.
Roof Repairs
We will replace the leaking roof and gutters that are causing damage to the sanctuary and brick exterior of the church.
Plaster Repair
You don’t have to look very hard to see where water leakage from the roof and gutters has caused extensive damage to the plaster ceiling and walls. We will repair and paint these areas.
Lighting and Sound
Significant upgrades to the lighting in the sanctuary are needed to make McKinley more accessible to our visitors who are sight impaired, and we will expand the current sound system. These improvements will also make the space more versatile for weddings, concerts, and other events.
How It Works
Capital campaign pledges are contributions above and beyond our “regular” or annual budget gifts. Annual budget gifts fund the church’s yearly operating expenses. Capital campaign gifts enable us to pay for the projects to protect and maintain our church’s physical structure so that it can continue to be our place of worship, service, and fellowship. Critical renovations will cost approximately $600,000. To structure the funding, we have adopted a five-year plan of giving. You may make your gift weekly, monthly, or yearly, whichever works best for you.

It is often said, and is always true,
