
Cash Award Photo Competition
Artists’ Alley at the McKinley Foundation, in collaboration with the McKinley Green Team, invites photographers of all ages to submit their work for an upcoming exhibition titled ELEMENTS. Share your photos incorporating at least one of nature’s elements – Earth, Air, Fire, and Water. This exhibition seeks to explore the impact of climate change on the environment around us. Please enter your work today to be considered for the Elements Exhibition.
A $100 PRIZE WINNER will be selected in each category:
- Students under 17
- Students 17 and older
- Nonstudent Amateur
- Nonstudent Professional
A $250 PEOPLE’S CHOICE PRIZE will be selected from all entries.
Specifications
All submissions must be two-dimensional photographic arts. We accept the following:
- Digital photography
- Film photography
- Cell phone photography
- Photo collage
- Photo edited with Photoshop or another app
- Mixed media
Artwork must address the theme of “Elements”
All submissions must be an original artwork created by the artist, but may borrow images (for example, a collage made of magazine photos)
File size* requirements:
- Longest side of photo must be between 3200 px – 4800 px
- Files must be under 4 MB
How to Submit Artwork
- Complete and submit the attached application
- Up to 3 images per entry
- Email digital submissions to arts@mckinleycu.org or upload to Google Drive
- Non-digital artwork (collage, mixed media, etc.): Submit a photo or scan of the artwork*. Artists’ Alley may ask you to bring in the original for display or may print your uploaded image for you.
- Digital photos: Submit the digital file*. Artists’ Alley will print your image if selected for exhibition.
- Please do not send actual artwork unless contacted by McKinley staff

General Information
- All applications will be reviewed and selected by a Jury.
- Artists’ Alley reserves the right not to select all submissions.
- If your submission is selected to be part of the exhibit, you will be required to sign an authorization form.
- Artists will receive notification of their selection status within 4 weeks of submission.
- Artwork will be loaned to Artists’ Alley for a period of 6 to 12 weeks.
- Artwork will be displayed in Artists’ Alley, located in the lobby of McKinley Foundation at 410 E. Daniel Street in Champaign.
