Our beautiful sanctuary has an 80-year-old furnace that is nearing the end of its life. Unfortunately, the two boilers that heat the sanctuary are not working.
On Friday, December 20, the staff and Building and Grounds team learned about the heat loss. The boilers will be difficult to fix. Luckily it is not bitterly cold this weekend, so the sanctuary temperature may not dip below 60°F.
I hope that Sunday morning worship will be held as usual in the church sanctuary. It might, though, be good to bring extra layers! If the sanctuary temperature drops below 60 degrees Fahrenheit, we will move to the Foundation living room (first floor). Signs will be posted.
As for Christmas Eve, we hope the sanctuary heat will be fixed by Tuesday evening. But if it is not, we will move worship to the Foundation living room. Signs and luminaries will direct the way for visitors. If you would like to volunteer to help greet visitors and direct traffic, let Heidi know.
Don’t forget: Prelude music on Christmas Eve begins at 6:45 p.m.!
