Rue Simmons, who as an Alderman in Evanston, led with others the passage of the first municipally-funded reparations legislation for Black residents, will speak on November 16 at 7:00 at New Covenant Fellowship, 124 White St. in Champaign. After her work as Alderman Ms. Simmons formed FirstRepair, an not-for-profit organization for the advancement of local reparations policies. The event is free and open to the public.
